Artist Statement - Kizito Maria Kasule

My studio work takes a critical review of the social, cultural, economic and political environments around me and beyond. In the process of producing my work, I both construct and deconstruct meanings beyond their established statuses and boundaries. I see my work as the reflection of the tabulous world in which we live, a world in which there are no permanent established values, a world which is always on the move for clear and unclear reasons.

Colour and patterns are important elements of my work. Through their application and usage I invite people to reflect on the social, cultural, economic and political environments around me and around them and the shifting values associated with them and their impact to society. Through colours and patterns I become a global art citizen with a mission to share my visual productions with the whole of humanity.
